Mark Rylance Says:

‎"The theatre, in my opinion, has been hijacked a bit by literary departments of academia. It's a live, aural tradition, much like rock 'n' roll is an aural tradition. One day rock 'n' roll will be hijacked by music departments of academia, and it will be like 'this is the authentic version of 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction' that has to be sung every time'" - Mark Rylance

Yeah, well Mark Rylance also thinks Shakespeare didn't write Shakespeare.

I certainly disagree with Rylance about 'who wrote Shakespeare' but I agree with him here, f'sure. And in general, I like to cede arguments about how to perform Shakespeare to the best actor in the room at the moment. Talent is the best argument. Ideas about talent are mostly worthless.
